Welcome to Safe Families for Children Peoria/Bloomington!

Safe Families for Children was born out of Chicago, IL in 2003. Since 2003, many chapters have opened throughout the US and even in the UK, Canada and Hong Kong. Locally, Safe Families launched in Peoria in 2015 and most recently absorbed the Bloomington area in 2022.

Safe Families exists to support families in crisis. Safe Families surrounds families in crisis with a caring and compassionate community of volunteers who are vetted and approved.  We work quickly to connect children with a volunteer family, who can care for them while the parent works on goals and the environment stabilizes.  Our goal is to keep kids safe and families intact.  Once a parent has achieved their goals, we work with parents to reunite their family as soon as possible.  We can support families (upon volunteer availablity) in McLean, Livingston, Dewitt, Peoria, Knox, Bureau, Marshall, Woodford and Tazewell.
